Carbon Monoxide-Water Reduction Method
This is another method for producing formic acid. The process flow is as follows:
(1) Raw Material Preparation:
Carbon monoxide and water are pretreated to achieve the required purity and concentration.
(2) Reduction Reaction:
Carbon monoxide and water are heated to a specific temperature, where CO undergoes a reduction reaction to produce formic acid and carbon dioxide.
(3) Separation and Purification:
The reaction products are separated and purified, typically through distillation.
(4) Waste Gas Treatment:
The process generates waste gases containing CO and CO₂, which are treated using absorption or purification methods.
